Howard Vs Rutgers (Rutgers - 14)

Rutgers - 14 (110)

Rutgers has gotten back on track after dropping their season opener to Princeton and today they host the Howard Bison laying 14 pts. The Scarlett Knights suffocating defense should be too much against a Howard offense that has done a poor job taking care of the basketball thus far:

Howard Offense:

Turnover % - 21.5% (ranked 295th)

Steal % - 11.7% (ranked 276th)

Non-steal TO % - 9.8% (ranked 265th)

Rutgers D:

Turnover % - 22.1% (ranked 47th)

Steal % - 10.3 (ranked 136th)

Non-steal TO% - 11.8% (ranked 27th)

The Bison are also one of the worst teams in D1 passing the ball with 35.2 Assists per FGs made (ranked 331st) while Rutgers D is only giving up 37.5 Assists per FGs made (ranked 30th)

Howard has depended on getting to the line so far this year with 27.2% of their total points coming from the charity stripe. Meanwhile Rutgers has only allowed 27.5 FT Attempts/game & opponents to score 18.7% of their total points with FTs. This should lead to more 2 & 3 pointers for the Howard offence, another thing Rutgers defends well:

Rutgers D-

OPP 2pt % - 41.1% (ranked 30th)

OPP 3pt % - 29% (ranked 97th)

The cherry on top for me is Rutgers advantage on the offensive boards. They are well above league average in Offensive Rebound % (33.8%) & OPP Offensive Rebound % well below the league average (26%).

Go Scarlet Knights!
