Louisville Vs Georgia Tech (Louisville -7.5)

Louisville -7.5 (-110)

The Louisville Cardinals head to Atlanta tonight to take on the Yellow Jackets in Mercedes Benz Stadium laying just over a touchdown. I like them to cover in this one on the back of their stout veteran defense who last year gave up only 19.2 pts/game to opponents (ranked 10th) against a sluggish Georgia Tech offense that put up only 15.5 pts/game (ranked 124th). Louisville also forced 2.2 turnovers/game (ranked 3rd)!

The Cardinals already have an established run game averaging over 5 yds/carry and I have to think their pass game is going to improve with new QB Jack Plummer under center, who reunites with his old HC from Purdue & new Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm. The transfer QB put up some solid numbers at Cal last year completing 62.5% of his passes for 3,095 yds and 21 TDs (9 int).

Georgia Tech struggled as the home team last year going 2-4 with the 4 loses coming by an average of 25.25 pts 🤢. They also struggled in a couple of other spots Louisville should be able to take advantage of:

3rd Down Conversion rate -

Georgia Tech is only converting 29.59% of 3rd downs (ranked 120th)

Louisville is only allowing opponents to convert 33.14% of 3rd downs (ranked 18th)

Redzone scoring % -

Georgia Tech is only scoring on 70.59% of RZ trips (ranked 124th)

Louisville is only allowing opponents to score on 67.44% of RZ trips (ranked 2nd)!!!

Always interesting with new head coaches and while I don't like GT's turnover advantage, I think the Cardinals are able to cover this one.

Go Cardinals!
