Oregon St Vs San Jose St (Under 55)

Under 55 (-110)

DJ Uiagalelei gets a a fresh start out west as the Beavers new starting QB after being Dabo Swinney's man @ Clemson for the past 2 seasons. Oregon St begins the year ranked again behind another solid defense as they hope DJ can take them to the next level.

While I do believe the Beavers should throw more this year, they ran the ball more than 60% of the time last season. 11th most in FBS.

But this play is more about D than tempo

These 2 teams both played solid defense last year both ranking inside the top 30 in pts against/game:

San Jose St - 22.5 (ranked 27th)

Oregon St - 19.3 (ranked 11th)

(Both offenses ended outside the top 50 in pts/game with 28.0 & 29.3 respectively)

My favorite edge in this one is how each teams Red Zone Scoring % compliment each other defensively:

  • San Jose St allowed opponents to score on only 73.53% of RZ trips (ranked 7th)

  • Oregon St allowed opponents to score on only 64.10% of RZ trips (ranked 1st). Numero uno, the best in the business.

While both teams were great defending the Red Zone, they were not as effective on the offensive side of the ball

  • San Jose St scored on only 81.63% of RZ trips (ranked 79th)

  • Oregon St scored on only 79.25% of RZ trips (ranked 96th)

The cherry on top is their struggles kicking field goals, Oregon St especially:

San Jose St - Making 70.59% of FGs (ranked 89th)

Oregon St - Making 57.89% of FGs (ranked 123rd) 🤢

Go Defense!
